Construction
The battery consists of a block of positive and negative electrodes, isolated from each other by a separator. Positive and negative electrodes consist of lamellas, which respectively contain a positive nickel electrode mass and a negative iron or cadmium mass.
The block of electrodes is placed in a rectangular tank. VNZh-300M-U2 and VNZh-350-U2 batteries are manufactured in metal tanks with a rubber cover or in plastic tanks, KL-type batteries – in metal tanks with polymer insulation and a plastic tray and lid, or in plastic tanks.
The block electrodes of the same name are welded to a boron with a bridge. Bournes are insulated from the tank lid with electrical insulating washers. The battery is equipped with a ventilation and protective device (a neck with a cover for a battery in a metal tank or a stopper for a battery in a plastic tank), which ensures a free outlet of gases, prevents electrolyte from spilling out of the batteries during operation and prevents foreign objects from entering.
The electrical resistance of the insulation of batteries at an ambient temperature of (20 ± 5) ° with polymer insulation and in plastic tanks must be at least 10 MΩ, with insulation in a rubber case – at least 1.5 MΩ.
An aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide with a density of 1.19-1.21 g / cm 3 , with the addition of (20 ± 1) g / l of lithium hydroxide, is used as an electrolyte in batteries. At low ambient temperatures down to minus 40 ° C, an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide with a density of 1.26-1.28 g / cm 3 is used.
Specifications
Duration of discharge with direct current 0.2C 5 A to a final voltage of 1.0V at ambient temperature plus (20 ± 5) ° C should be at least 5 hours. The nominal capacity is reached no later than 5 cycles for KL batteries and no later than 21 cycles for VNZh batteries (0.8C 5 is reached on cycle 6).
Duration of discharge with a current of 0.2C 5 A to a final voltage of 1.0V:
a) at an ambient temperature of minus (20 ± 2) ° C – not less than 3 hours;
b) at a low ambient temperature minus (40 ± 2) ° C to 0.8V – at least 1.5 hours;
d) at elevated ambient temperature (40 ± 2) ° C – not less than 5 hours;
e) after 28 days of storage in a charged state at an ambient temperature of (20 ± 5) ° C – at least 1 hour for VNZh batteries and at least 4 hours for KL batteries.
Batteries allow for discharge at an ambient temperature of plus (20 ± 5) ° C with a maximum current of 120A to a final voltage of at least 1.0V for 1 hour.
Cycling operating time – not less than 1000 cycles.
